Overnight School and Youth Programs

Scouts and youth groups experience the thrill of sleeping aboard a tall ship when participating in the Museum's Anchor Watch program.

In addition to the Museum’s school group initiatives, Mystic Seaport Museum also offers a rich variety of programming for youth groups and scouts.

Anchor Watch provides an opportunity for youth groups to experience sleeping on board the 1882 square-rigged vessel Joseph Conrad by night and to engage in hands-on activities the next day. Anchor Watch is appropriate for any youth group ages 6-18 and select programs allow scouts to achieve certain badges. Scouts can additionally earn a variety of badges, patches, and beads on special day trips to Mystic Seaport Museum.

The Ship to Shore Overnight Program offers your school group the opportunity to immerse itself in American history. By exploring the Museum’s seaport village and sleeping aboard the 1882 full-rigged ship Joseph Conrad, students will experience history in a way that simply can’t be done in the classroom.

A visit to the Treworgy Planetarium is another fun way to enrich your youth group’s experience at Mystic Seaport Museum. Planetarium shows allow children of all ages the opportunity to explore the the night sky and programs can be tailored to the needs of Scout groups.
